Registrations have now closed

We cater for all ages from 4-13, the season starts in term 2

Our trainings are held at Sherwin Park, Te Awamutu and games can vary between at home at Sherwin Park and across the Waikato.

Welcome to the 2022 season. We will begin with age group trainings for all junior players (except First Kicks) at Sherwin Park from April 4.  This is a chance to meet other players and coaches, have a kick about and finalise teams before the holidays. Training times for the rest of the season will be decided between the coaches and teams at this time.

There will be a football festival for all Te Awamutu junior teams on Saturday, 30 April at Sherwin Park, the week before winter competition starts on May 7.

First Kicks

  • When? The programme starts on Friday the 1 st of April and runs until the end of term two. Training kicks off at 5:30pm.
  • Who? 4 (turning 5 this year) to 6 year olds
  • Where? The Stadium, Armstrong Avenue, Te Awamutu.
  • How do I register? Go to the Te Awamutu AFC website www.teawamutuafc.co.nz and click on the "Register" button at the top of the page. Fill in all the information for your child to confirm your place. You may wish to try a couple of sessions before signing up – that is fine, just let us know (contact details are below).
  • What’s the cost? Sixty dollars ($60) per child.
  • How do I pay? Payment is required when you register, or make alternative arrangements with us. Players will then receive a sponsors gift.
  • What do the players need? Sturdy shoes for outdoor sports or soccer boots, shin pads, long socks, shorts (any colour), a t-shirt and a named water bottle – they get very thirsty.
  • How long are the sessions? 45 to 60 minutes maximum.
  • What’s the format? We start with a group warm up then players will be divided into small teams and are led through skills and small sided game sessions.
  • What happens if it is raining? If the weather is too bad I’ll post a cancellation notice on the Te Awamutu AFC Facebook or website www.teawamutuafc.co.nz
  • How can I help? We are always in need of volunteer helpers if the children are to get the most out of the sessions - the more hands to help the better. Please let us know if you can help or just jump on and join in. We also need help running the BBQ each night.
  • What about Saturdays? Once or twice a season we are invited to join other First Kicks groups in Hamilton. This is on a voluntary basis and gives our Kickers a chance to play against other kids and get a taste of what Saturday Football is all about. More details about this will follow when the festival dates are set.
  • Sponsorship. Once again this year we thank our major sponsors, McDonald’s Family Restaurant and Expeleo, who have provided funds specifically for the benefit of the players taking part in Junior Football
